How results are ordered
This page explains how IPRATE chooses firms and puts them in order. It covers ratings, the firm lists on our pages and requests for quotes.
Ratings
Every rating comes from official register records at EUIPO, the EPO and the national IP offices. Our published methodology sets out each step.
Ratings are never sold. Paid products change presentation, delivery or visibility share, never a score, a tier, a rank, a confidence grade or eligibility for a rating.
Firm lists on our pages
Some pages show a few firms side by side. Each firm on such a list holds a published rating. Top Rated firms come first.
Firms with an equal claim to a place take turns. The order changes on a fixed schedule. Firms with a paid plan appear in a larger share of these turns. Their rating stays exactly the same.
Requests for quotes
When you ask for quotes, IPRATE picks up to three firms for each place you choose. The main things that count are listed here, in order of weight.
- The firm holds a published rating for trade marks in that place.
- The firm is among the 25 leading firms in at least one Nice class of your request.
- Top Rated firms are chosen before other rated firms.
- The firm can receive your request by email.
- Among equal firms, each request draws its own turn. A Premium plan gives three turns, Pro two, and Free one.
We keep a record of every choice and the rule version behind it. The request is free for you. Firms pay for their plan. Your full fee goes to the firm you choose.
